Very stiff cluster bracts at the base of each flower cluster look a wee bit nasty.
Male and female flowers have six tepals. Inner tepals are larger and yellow coloured. Outer tepals have purplish colour.
Male flowers have six stamens with wide filaments.
Female flowers have an ovary with three compartments. The stigma has three lobes.
