Cyclamen flowers and seed pods.

Cyclamen flowers bloom forever, and fresh buds pop up regularly.

Change happens slowly. The flower drops its petals, and the seed pod develops. What lies inside?

Thought I’d have a look rather than google it.

The petals have gone.

A seed pod grows.

Later on.

The stem is curling down. The seed pod is still at an early stage in its development.

A seed pod packed with growing ovules.

Cyclamen seed pods.

They can have five or up to 50 seeds developing in the pod apparently.

An individual ovule at the top of the picture.

Ovules contain the developing embryo. They mature into seeds.

A short stalk called the funiculus attaches the ovule to the ovary wall. The area of attachment is known as the placenta.

How did the flower end up like this?

I’m tracking a flower at the moment. It’s more fun observing than googling.

UPDATE, I accidentally deadheaded the flower I was tracking to take pictures of the seed pod.
