Euphorbia Milii buds and bud launchers.
Studying plants for a bit of fun is one thing, plants surviving in my care long enough is another. Euphorbia Milii is very resilient. This plant has more than doubled in size in nine months. It sits near a sunny north facing window (Aotearoa)
I wanted study how the buds developed before they flower.
Thick stems store water so the plant can survive drought conditions, like when I forget to water it for a couple of weeks.
Multiple flower buds exploding in slow motion from a single stem.
Flower Bud Launchers.
Flower bud launchers nestled against a bloated stem.
New formed buds emerging from the stem together with leaves packed tightly like an umbrella before it opens. Five buds packed into the launcher.
Next Day 2
The single stem has branched in two, forming separate flower spikes.
Next Day 2.
What a difference a day makes and the difference is, not so much but i like the picture.
